Will receive a prophet’s reward

14 JULY (Mt 10,34-11,1)

The Word of God is the sword so sharp as to be able to separate the world into two. This separation starts from the family. The word, which is the only source of true communion, becomes the source, the cause of every division within the human community, starting right from the family. However, it is necessary to point out right away that the separation is not direct but indirect, not wanted but suffered, it is not chosen but imposed. It is the same separation that occurs between light and darkness.

The Word points out to man the path of his true humanization. When God created man from the dust of the ground, the fruit of that work was not a human person. He lacked the breath of life. God breathes in his work taken from the mud of the earth his breath, and man becomes a living being. The breath of the Lord separates the earth from the man. That soil with the breath of God is the human person. The other soil without the breath of the Lord remains simply dust of the ground. Even today, when the breath of the Lord withdraws from the earth, this returns to be earth. The separation is the result of this departure.

Jesus comes, breathes on men his breath of life, which is the Holy Spirit, and the man becomes a spiritual being. The separation between who remain a carnal being and who is transformed into a spiritual being occurs. These two beings cannot live except in a perpetual conflict. The carnal is opposed to the spiritual being. The spiritual being is called to follow the Lord’s Spirit. He cannot follow the flesh. The division in every sphere of human life starts. There is no area or place in which one is possible to find himself in unity of spirit and truth. The flesh always guides towards falsehood. The Spirit always leads to the truth, rather leads from truth to truth.

Today, the flesh suggests to the Spirit a way of “communion” and “unity”, but not in the truth, but in darkness, sin and in the renunciation to the light. The flesh suggests to the Spirit to be made a private thing, to go back into the catacombs, at the most it grants him to be able to hide in the innermost of a man, without ever coming out. Where human life is lived, there one must proceed according to the flesh, sin, darkness, spiritual and moral death. Where no real life is lived, there one can cohabit with the Spirit of the Lord. The flesh suggests man a double life: with it in public, without it in private. This is the unity and communion that today the world requires from every disciple of Jesus: forgetting, quitting from being a Christian in politics and in all other places where decisions are made. Going back from resignations in all other places where there is no relationship with the brothers.

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. For I have come to set a man ‘against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one’s enemies will be those of his household.’ “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is righteous will receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because he is a disciple – amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.” When Jesus finished giving these commands to his twelve disciples, he went away from that place to teach and to preach in their towns.

Jesus must be welcomed in his Word, in his truth and in his Holy Spirit. He must be welcomed in his whole being and in all divine gifts that He came to bring onto our earth. He must be welcomed in the person of his disciples. Either we accept him this way or we do not accept him at all. The apostle must not be accepted as a mere man. He must be accepted as the bearer of Christ, who in turn is the bearer of God. He must be like the true prophet of Lord Jesus. Whoever receives will have the reward of the prophet.

Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints make us true spiritual beings.
