We do not want this man to be our king

19 NOVEMBER (Lk 19,11-28)

Today man has set out on a path of darkness and not of light, of death and not of life, of falsehood and not of truth, of injustice and not of justice. He set along the path which abolishes all objective truth, both of nature and history, both of time and eternity, both of reason and of revelation, both of the sacred science and of the profane one. Today, everything is decided by the will of man.

The man does not want God to reign over the world, on his universe and on his humanity. Men want that the Lord no longer has any relationship with his creature. Men want his Author to leave his work at its mercy. What the powerful by office, by ministry, by wealth, by usurpation and by tyrannywants must be the law for all. The man wants God not to exist and he must not exist. But God exists. He is the Lord today, tomorrow and always. He comes to judge the world with justice. He comes to put his enemies under his feet. Whether man wants it or not it is not in his power to remove God from history, from life, from time and from eternity.

The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” The Lord will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.” Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power; In holy array, from the womb of the dawn, Your youth are to You as the dew. The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” The Lord is at Your right hand; He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath. He will judge among the nations, He will fill them with corpses, He will shatter the chief men over a broad country. He will drink from the brook by the wayside; Therefore He will lift up His head (Psalm 110 (109) 1-7).

The man has no power even on his life. He must give account of it to the Lord, whether he believes or not, whether he likes it or not. When the Lord comes and asks to give an explanation for the administration of his goods, everyone must present himself before him and give an account of their useboth fair and unfair, both true and false, both in holiness and in sin. The truth of God is not dependent on our will. We have no power on our lives. How can we expect to have power on his?

While they were listening to him speak, he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God would appear there immediately. So he said, “A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return. He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return.’ His fellow citizens, however, despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce, ‘We do not want this man to be our king.’ But when he returned after obtaining the kingship, he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money, to learn what they had gained by trading. The first came forward and said, ‘Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.’ He replied, ‘Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.’ Then the second came and reported, ‘Your gold coin, sir, has earned five more.’ And to this servant too he said, ‘You, take charge of five cities.’ Then the other servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it stored away in a handkerchief, for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding person; you take up what you did not lay down and you harvest what you did not plant.’ He said to him, ‘With your own words I shall condemn you, you wicked servant. You knew I was a demanding person, taking up what I did not lay down and harvesting what I did not plant; why did you not put my money in a bank? Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.’ And to those standing by he said, ‘Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten.’ But they said to him, ‘Sir, he has ten gold coins.’ ‘I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me.'” After he had said this, he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.

It is utmost foolishness and ignorance for a creature to think being the creator of himself. The order of things is in God. Removed God, the true God, we have a myriad of false gods. Every man that takes God away from his life, is constituted God for himself and for others.

Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints make us true worshipers of God.
