They all ate and were satisfied
2 JUNE (Lk 9,11b-17)
Jesus is the person that always surprises. His are surprises of the purest love, charity, truth, forgiveness, mercy, compassion, very high and true knowledge of the Father. Jesus knows the heart of the Father because it is in it that he dwells. From the heart of the Father he knows man in his every need, exigency and necessity. From the truth of God, Jesus sees the truth of man, not the artificial, of convenience and of sin truths, but the truth of his nature which is made by God in his image and likeness.
There is a big difference between the truths of reason and truths of nature. When it is our reason the one to fabricate its truths, there is always an excuse for everything that it is done; even for the most horrendous sins reason manufactures its truths. The believing reason can also manufacture its truths and adduce them as a principle of right action. However, these reasons are not of nature and essence. They are reasons that spring from the heart of man, not from God’s heart. The only reasons of nature, of essence are those that come out, pour and spring from the heart of God.
Jesus finds the truth of his person, of his will and his acting always in the heart of the Father. The only source of truth about man is the heart of God. Who is in the heart of the Father, gives the truth of God and the reasons of God to his life. On the contrary, who does not live in the heart of the Father, will give his life only truths of human reason, even believing; but never truths of divine, eternal reasons of essence and nature of things. The Gospel is the book of the truths of nature. In it the truth of man according to God, which is Christ Jesus is revealed. Jesus is our truth of nature. All the others are truths of human reason, very distant from the truths of nature, from which our truth is.
The crowds, meanwhile, learned of this and followed him. He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and he healed those who needed to be cured. As the day was drawing to a close, the Twelve approached him and said, “Dismiss the crowd so that they can go to the surrounding villages and farms and find lodging and provisions; for we are in a deserted place here.” He said to them, “Give them some food yourselves.” They replied, “Five loaves and two fish are all we have, unless we ourselves go and buy food for all these people.” Now the men there numbered about five thousand. Then he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of (about) fifty.” They did so and made them all sit down. Then taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing over them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. They all ate and were satisfied. And when the leftover fragments were picked up, they filled twelve wicker baskets.
Before Jesus there is a huge crowd. Jesus possesses the truth of nature. He knows the essence, the nature and substance of God. The apostles possess instead truths of reasons. When Jesus asks them to give food to the crowd, they answer with some truths of reason. It is reasonable to send the crowd away so that it goes into the neighboring villages and of provides for its livelihood. They do not have but five miserable loaves of bread and two fish. Reason says that with so little matter little can be done. This is purest truth of reason. A truth of appearance. A truth of what is seen. This is the major limitation of man. He is out of the truths of essence and nature. He is always in the house of his rationality from which he always starts to read history and what falls under his eyes. This is his highest and painful poverty.
On the contrary, Jesus possesses the truth of the Father, which is his creative omnipotence from nothing. It is also multiplying omnipotence. The Father is of all means. You just need ask the Father and he grants everything. Jesus lifts his eyes up to heaven, invokes the creative and multiplying omnipotence of the Father and instantly the human impossible becomes possible. Where the truths of reason stop, the truths of essence or nature start. In the prayer Jesus transforms his knowledge into faith. The Father can. He asks the Father to want. The Father wants and the miracle is accomplished. Miracle of true knowledge.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints give us the truth of essence.
