The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son
21 AUGUST (Mt 22,1-14)
In the kingdom of heaven one enters by invitation, not by merit. However, going into it there are some rules to be observed. Rather, you get into it to observe certain rules. Without observed rules there is no kingdom of God and never might there be it. The present collapse of Christianity is the result of an evil thought which crept into many minds. You can be the kingdom of God without any rules. You can get into it by living a life without any law. You enter it and you stay in it without any changes.
If we read carefully the entire Gospel, which is the most pure Word of God, given to us in its fullness of truth and light by the Lord Jesus, the rule is the essence and substance of the kingdom of God. We can affirm that it is the rule, because the Word of God is our eternal rule to be listened, followed, realized and transformed into lire. What is in fact the kingdom of God if not perennial listening and constant obedience to the Word? If the Word must be completely heard and it is our new rule of life, can we say that the kingdom of God is without law?
Every word of God, uttered to us by Jesus Christ, is for us most pure law to be observed, practiced and realized. If we fall from this truth, we are no longer the kingdom of God. We belong to another kingdom, because the distinction between the two kingdoms is only made by the Word of God heard and acted upon. The Word heard and lived ensures that our spiritual house is built on solid rock. The Word simply heard, but not experienced makes us be builders of spiritual houses on the sand, exposed to the immediate collapse at the first bad weather.
Unfortunately, today there is an unhealthy thought that circulates in many minds, according to which salvation is a most pure gift of God without any moral, spiritual and ascetic obligation on the part of a man. One is the kingdom of God in transgression and in the non-observance of the rules that God has given to his children as the true way of life. This foolishness is producing a bitter fruit of dissolution and decline of human life itself. The proof that we are in Satan’s lie is right in the fact that on our earth there is no more life, but only death. The newly born life dies, the family dies, society dies, institutions die and we call this kingdom of death the kingdom of God.
Jesus again in reply spoke to them in parables, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast, but they refused to come. A second time he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Behold, I have prepared my banquet, my calves and fattened cattle are killed, and everything is ready; come to the feast.”‘ Some ignored the invitation and went away, one to his farm, another to his business. The rest laid hold of his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. The king was enraged and sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy to come. Go out, therefore, into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find.’ The servants went out into the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good alike, and the hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to meet the guests he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment. He said to him, ‘My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding garment?’ But he was reduced to silence. Then the king said to his attendants, ‘Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’ Many are invited, but few are chosen.”
The kingdom of God is a journey from life to life, from virtue to virtue, from peace to peace, from love to love, from brotherhood to brotherhood, from mercy to mercy, from truth to truth and from justice to justice. The guest that enters the banquet hall without a wedding garment, that is, without respect for the rules of the banquet, is taken out. There is no place for him in the hall. He did not observe the rules. Who wants a Christianity without any rule to be observed, let him know that his is not the true kingdom of God. On the contrary, this is the kingdom of the prince of this world. This kingdom does not belong to Christ the Lord. It is the kingdom of darkness, and not of light. His reign instead is perfect morality.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints make us true kingdom of God.
