The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field

1 AUGUST (Mt 13,44-46)

In the Old Testament man was invited to seek wisdom as his real treasure. Wisdom is hidden in the heart of God, from which it must be drawn, digging in it every day. There is no time one can say: “I have gained wisdom. That is enough for me. I must search no longer.” This thought is madness and foolishness. It is the sign that wisdom has never been sought and possessed. Never have we walked by letting ourselves be guided by it. It is characteristic of wisdom, being always in need of a new, instantly updated wisdom.

Wisdom must always be acquired. It is never definitely acquired. The one already in our possession has guided our past life. Today, life will be entirely new, and today you need to seek new knowledge, new intelligence, and new wisdom. This truth must be placed in the heart, mind, and desires. It must be our true science. One never becomes wise. Never. Wisdom is always to be sought. One must always dig for it as he digs for treasures. It is always before us, never fully in us. We must always walk towards, progressing, and advancing in it.

My son, if you receive my words and treasure my commands, Turning your ear to wisdom, inclining your heart to understanding; Yes, if you call to intelligence, and to understanding raise your voice; If you seek her like silver, and like hidden treasures search her out: Then will you understand the fear of the Lord; the knowledge of God you will find; For the Lord gives wisdom, from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; He has counsel in store for the upright, he is the shield of those who walk honestly, Guarding the paths of justice, protecting the way of his pious ones. Then you will understand rectitude and justice, honesty, every good path; For wisdom will enter your heart, knowledge will please your soul, Discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you; Saving you from the way of evil men, from men of perverse speech, Who leave the straight paths to walk in the way of darkness, Who delight in doing evil, rejoice in perversity; Whose ways are crooked, and devious their paths; Saving you from the wife of another, from the adulteress with her smooth words, Who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the pact with her God; For her path sinks down to death, and her footsteps lead to the shades; None who enter thereon come back again, or gain the paths of life. Thus you may walk in the way of good men, and keep to the paths of the just. For the upright will dwell in the land, the honest will remain in it; But the wicked will be cut off from the land, the faithless will be rooted out of it. (Pro 2,1-22).

What is true for wisdom – always to be searched, never possessed in its fullness and wholeness – it also applies to the Kingdom of God. What is in fact the Kingdom of God? It is the perfect truth and grace of the Lord that fill our hearts and fully govern our lives. This research ends neither in a day and not even in one, ten, twenty, thirty, fifty, and one hundred years. All ages do not exhaust the search of the kingdom of God and its possession is not even in eternity given once and for all. Even in eternity God remains the unreachable infinite for every blessed.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.

The Kingdom of God is always hidden before us. Every day we are called to sell ourselves in order to make it entirely ours. Its value is so precious and so high that a whole lifetime is not enough to be able to acquire it. It is given by the grace of God. However, we have to sell everything to be able to receive it. Every day we give everything and every day we receive it. It is this exchange that the Lord asks of us. We give ourselves to Him every day. Every day he gives himself to us. It is a gift without any interruption. It is a perennial exchange. How much foolishness there is in all those who teach that the gift has already been done and we are all already Kingdom of God!

Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels, and Saints teach us the true wisdom.
