The kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind
31 JULY (Mt 13,47-53)
The words of Jesus are eternal, divine and supernatural light. They pierce the darkness of this world and radiate the earth with a fine and perfect truth, living which a man finds his peace. Falsehood is always a generator of every war, every conflict, every violent revolution, the destruction of man and things. On the contrary, the truth is a medicine of union, sharing, cooperation and collaboration among men. It is the only one capable of giving serenity to the heart and mind.
Today, what Jesus says of his reign and especially of his Church is of unique wisdom, not always understood in history; not even today, it seems, people want to understand it. We persevere against the sin of our brothers, forgetting that we are all sinners. We persist in putting to shame some sins and we even forget our more horrendous sins. We hurl heavy stones that kill the soul and spirit of others while we absolve us from our most serious atrocities, often hidden under the cloak of a hypocritical religiosity.
Jesus tells us that the beauty of the church is her great ability to walk together with each other. Sinners and saints, good and bad, just and unjust, true and false, learned and ignorant, educated and untrimmed of mind, all together, all in the same net, all in the one fold, all in the same boat. Surely, the sin of those around us can make us sick, but we must also think that our sin is disgusting, more than we think, suspect and imagine. Our hidden sin certainly is no less serious than the public one of our brother.
This does not mean in any way that sin must be justified, it simply means that the sinner must always be loved, always redeemed, always led on to the way of truth and justice. Man is the redeemer of man, the one who atones in Christ for every one of his brothers. If this truth falls from the heart, we are a community of hypocrites, falsifiers of the true religion, we are an army of lustful spirituals, that delight, enjoy the evil of the brothers and especially rejoice in throwing mud on others. When this happens, we are no longer a saving community. We are in a concentration camp of destruction of man sentenced by us ahead of time, without giving him any chance of being able to be redeemed, saved and return to the truth.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. “Do you understand all these things?” They answered, “Yes.” And he replied, “Then every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.” When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.
The Church is this wonderful network in which everyone has the right to live. In her everyone has to become the redeemer, saviour, light, a beacon of truth and love for every one of his brothers. Sure, there are laws to be observed, first of all, however, is the law of charity, which longs for the salvation of the brother and for this reason announces him all the truth that opens the doors of salvation. An impediment to receive the Eucharist is also a proclamation of truth, a gift of most pure charity. It is the highest charity that one can give to his brother. If his love for the Eucharist is true, pure and right, he will certainly do everything so that this obstacle is removed. Instead, leaving him to approach the table of the Lord it is as if we cared little of his salvation. It is as if we ignored the serious situation his soul finds itself in. Redeeming, saving and leading to salvation happens also proclaiming to the brother his non regular condition before the Lord and the community. It also occurs through an impediment that serves as a warning to others so that they do not incur in the same sin, which mortally wounds the whole community. An impediment is the greatest act of charity.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints give us the truth of the Word.
