Look and see that no prophet arises from Galilee

16 MARCH (Jn 7,40-53)

The arrogance, overbearingness and pride of the leaders of the Pharisees is equal to their ignorance of the Law and the Prophets. The higher is one in the pride and the more he uses his own status to confuse the simple and pure of heart, making also a bad use of revelation. Since nobody dares contradict their claims, these pass as most pure truth. Yet they are of an unheard of falseness. What they say is obviously not right, not exact, and not corresponding to the truth of God.

This happens even nowadays. It is sufficient that one who is considered a “luminary” in theology asserts a falsehood, and all the theological world runs after him, repeating the same obvious falsehood. This way of doing is not only psychological subjection, it is mainly lack of wisdom and intelligence. It is proof of inability to do theology. It is the betrayal of the sacred science. It is the denial of the Holy Spirit that wants to work through us to refute the false prophet, false exegete, false theologian, false teacher, false doctor, false master of the things concerning God. Who affirms a lie on God attests that the Spirit of the Lord is not in him. If he were in him, there would be no falsehood on his lips and in his pen.

Today, the modern “luminaries” are completely changing the truth of God, they are turning it into falsehood and those who have a duty to act are silent; rather they repeat the mistakes, making them their own truth, their own Gospel. An error in theology is an error in faith, an error in faith is an error in the conscience, an error placed in the conscience ruins your whole existence. Today errors on the truth of God are many and very serious. No one knows any more what the mercy of God, his faithfulness, his justice, his righteous judgment, his forgiveness, his grace, his Word and his Gospel are. The “luminaries” cry all falsehood and their followers feed on this poison of death.

Some in the crowd who heard these words said, “This is truly the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Messiah.” But others said, “The Messiah will not come from Galilee, will he? Does not scripture say that the Messiah will be of David’s family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?” So a division occurred in the crowd because of him. Some of them even wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him. So the guards went to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why did you not bring him?” The guards answered, “Never before has anyone spoken like this one.” So the Pharisees answered them, “Have you also been deceived? Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? But this crowd, which does not know the law, is accursed.” Nicodemus, one of their members who had come to him earlier, said to them, “Does our law condemn a person before it first hears him and finds out what he is doing?” They answered and said to him, “You are not from Galilee also, are you? Look and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.” Then each went to his own house.

Is it just true that who does not know the law is accursed? Not at all. Who violates it in some very serious things is cursed. According to the law the leaders of the people and the Pharisees are just the ones who are cursed. Here’s how this curse sounds for them: “Cursed be he who misleads the way to the blind.” And all the people shall say, “Amen” (Deuteronomy 27.18). The blind man is not only the physical one, he is also the spiritual one; and leaders and Pharisees put every obstacle on his path so that he does not see his Saviour, his Lord and his God.

Is it just true that no prophets arise out of Galilee? Here is how the Gospel according to Matthew begins: “When he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what had been said through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled: “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles, the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death light has arisen.” From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”” (Mt 4.12 to 17). It is right from Galilee that then light that must flood the whole world will arise. Leaders and Pharisees are really blind and guides of blind. They are blind people who say they see.

Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints make us humble, honest and true.
