But I know you
5 JUNE (Jn 17,20-26)
The knowledge of God is from our knowledge of Him. Never might there be true knowledge of God from the non true knowledge of God on the part of his mediator. God is known only through the ecclesial mediation. This truth is right to be placed on the candlestick of our hearts, our minds and our every thought, so that our profession of faith is as correct, perfect and holy as possible.
Jesus affirms this with Holy Spirit wisdom and understanding. The world has not known the Father. It did not want to know him. But he always knew him before the world. The world cannot be excused for this non knowledge. It is eternally responsible. It could and did not want to. It had been placed in the right conditions to know the true God and did not do it. It refused to do so. It preferred to remain in its truth darkness which is also ethical and moral darkness.
The disciples instead have known the Father. They have known him from the perfect knowledge of Jesus on the Father. Jesus always showed them the truth of the Father. He was from the Father. He spoke and acted from the Father. He always preached and taught from the Father. Jesus did nothing that was not pure listening to the Father. This is the true knowledge of Jesus: acting, speaking, discerning, relating and living everything for it was the Father’s command, his will, his ordering and his regulation. Jesus did nothing that was not explicit, current, inspired, motivated, revealed, manifested and communicated will of his Father. He was always moved by the Holy Spirit.
This way of being and acting has generated faith in the Father on the part of his disciples. Mediation in the faith is an always necessary and always indispensable work. We are from the faith of others. If their faith is true, we come to the true knowledge of the Father. But if theirs is a false faith, even ours will be a false faith. A false faith cannot create a true faith. True faith already leaves the world in the false faith. Imagine the devastating effects that the false faith possesses. Not only does it ratify in falsehood those who already do not know the Father, in addition it can become a very powerful temptation for those who live in the true faith.
“I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, the world also does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you sent me. I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them.”
Today, in regard to the faith ambiguity, falsehood and approximation reign, but also true betrayals, denials and disclaimers. There are many who speak of the Father without even knowing him. There are many who deny Jesus Christ in the uniqueness of mediation concerning the correct faith in the Father. As long as this is done by the non Christian, the world in the non faith is and in the non faith remains. On the contrary, if it is a Christian the one to do so, one who is called to make a right profession of faith in Lord Jesus, the danger is always twofold: those who are world remain world, they live in the non right knowledge of the true God. However, this is a serious sin of scandal. But even those who are Christians, dragged by the falsity of the brothers, may abandon the faith and plunge straight into the false confession of the Father. That is what is happening in our days. Because of a false mediation exerted on faith, the true faith of many is cooling down. Many live with an approximate truth on Christ the Lord. Not knowing directly the only Mediator of the Father, they hinder the process of the true faith in many others. This is the saddest Christian scandal of today and always. Lack of true mediation.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints make us true mediators of Jesus.
