A bright cloud cast a shadow over them
6 AUGUST (Mt 17,1-9)
Jesus is not only the One who came to give the truth and thus faith the supreme splendour, the highest perfection and the clearest light without any shadow, not even as big as that of a mustard seed. He is also the one who always at all times is the creator and support, source and help, spring and rescue of faith. It is not enough to give the purest truth of faith so that the other instantly opens to it. For the faith to take root in a heart, lengthy and uninterrupted efforts of knowledge, wisdom and intelligence in the Holy Spirit are required. Prayer, an always vigilant and attentive word, perfect exemplariness, infinite patience, unlimited love, an ever new commitment, so that nothing is left out of everything that is useful are also required and vital so that true faith is born, is invigorated and bears fruit of other faith for the brothers.
The first rule so that faith is given and helped in its historical development is a strong faith, an indestructible truth and a belief which is the fruit in us of profound knowledge and wisdom that the truth of our life is the only truth that must be given to the brother so that it is transformed into faith in him. The Christian is the subject that gives faith, but he is also the object of faith. It is his new truth, in which he was inserted by the love of the Father, by the grace of Jesus Christ and by the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. If a Christian, like Jesus Christ, is not together the giving subject and the donated object of the truth of faith, never might real faith be transmitted. He might also transmit some very high truths on God and on his mystery, but never might the true faith be born in a heart, never might the nascent or already born faith be aided in its historical development. The Christian is the true seed of faith for every one of his brothers.
This truth must be shouted from the rooftops every day with a louder and louder voice, especially in our days in which the need for a new evangelization is invoked by everyone. You cannot evangelize without the evangelizing subject and this subject is the Christian who has become full truth in the Lord Jesus that gives himself as a truth of faith to the world in which he is called to live. If a Christian does not imitate Christ the Lord, who is both the word of faith and the full truth of it, never might he become a tool of true faith to his brothers. He is not in his nature the truth of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Not being the truth, never might he help the truth on which all faith rests. Faith without truth is most pure illusion, deception of the mind and heart.
After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and do not be afraid.” And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, “Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
Today, Jesus shows the disciples his truth. He is of divine origin. He is a heavenly person. What the disciples see is a body in which all the power, the omnipotence of the light of truth, love, justice and the mercy of the Father live. Moses and Elijah are next to Jesus in order to certify that all of the Old Testament is with Jesus. The ancient truth is with Jesus and for Him. The Father of Heaven also intervenes and from above cries out that Jesus is his Son and his beloved. He is well pleased with him. That is, he is his Messiah and his disciples have to listen to his voice, believing that what Jesus says is most pure truth. The Christian who goes into the world to create faith in the hearts, must be confirmed by God in his truth. If he is true, the Lord will always attest for him. On the contrary, if he is false, never might the Lord testify and no faith will ever be born through him.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints make us most pure truth of faith.
