He will assign him a place with the unfaithful
22 OCTOBER (Lk 12,39-48)
It is right that we ask ourselves: if the Gospel dictate is so clear, so limpid, so transparent, so pure in its truth, why does the mind that interprets it, give it totally opposite meanings? Why does what is clear become obscure, that is what is limpid become turbid, that is, what is transparent as crystal clear water become so opaque as to hide all the splendour of the truth? What is the reason why this happens?
The answer can only be found in the origin of the Word of God. This has as its Author, the Holy Spirit. The hagiographer is only its instrumental author. The truth of the Word is not in the letter of Scripture. It is guarded with jealousy in the heart of the Spirit of God. The Spirit gives the letter through the hagiographer. Who wants to discover the truth contained in the letter, must enter into the heart of the Spirit of the Lord, for only in this heart are the treasures of the purest truth that liberates and saves.
We do not enter into the heart of the Holy Spirit at our own taste and liking, whenever we want. One enters it in only one way: if the Spirit is in our hearts. If the heart of the Spirit of God and ours form a single heart. If the Holy Spirit does not form with us one heart, one life, one truth and one light, never might one enter into it and this is the reason why the truth of the Spirit remains hidden to the mind.
The heart of man, alone, outside of the Holy Spirit of God, is capable of producing only words of obscurity and darkness. Even when reading the divine Word, it immediately mixes and kneads it with human words, words of darkness and not of light, words of death and not of life, words of falsehood and not of truth. A bad heart will always produce bad words, even if in appearance they are the words of the Gospel. They are words, but they are not the Gospel. They are phrases, but they are not the Holy Scripture. They are thoughts of the earth, they are not heavenly and divine revelation. Our minds transforms everything. Nothing remains in its holy truth. Even the most straightforward and simple thing is made twisted and difficult.
Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” Then Peter said, “Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?” And the Lord replied, “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute (the) food allowance at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so. Truly, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, to eat and drink and get drunk, then that servant’s master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the unfaithful. That servant who knew his master’s will but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely; and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.
Why does the Lord ask us to be ready? Because death comes like a thief. No one knows when, where and how. Not even with the most fanciful imagination we are able to predict the day and hour of our passing to eternity. However, it is not death that should make us afraid. It comes and that is it. When it comes it has already come. It is an instant. We are in the time and immediately we find ourselves in eternity. On the contrary, what must make us think is the judgment that follows as soon as we stepped into eternity. The Lord will show us the book of our life and we, reading it, in a moment will know where to go: to hell, purgatory and heaven. Hell is eternal perdition. One is in death forever. We will be enveloped by darkness, by the total absence of all light. From there one does not come out. It is the truth of the eternal hell that must lead us to a sound and fruitful work of conversion, to get on the narrow path of light, to permanently abandon the broad road of darkness. Today, people do not believe in the eternity of perdition. All preach a false mercy of God and live of illusion.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints, give us the most pure truth.
