For my yoke is easy, and my burden light

18 JULY (Mt 11,28-30)

What God revealed himself to be for his people in the Old Testament; today, Jesus is for every man. God revealed Himself as the Giver of every gift of life. Everything is from God.

All you who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat; Come, without paying and without cost, drink wine and milk! Why spend your money for what is not bread; your wages for what fails to satisfy? Heed me, and you shall eat well, you shall delight in rich fare. Come to me heedfully, listen, that you may have life. I will renew with you the everlasting covenant, the benefits assured to David. As I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander of nations, So shall you summon a nation you knew not, and nations that knew you not shall run to you, Because of the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, who has glorified you. Seek the Lord while he may be found, call him while he is near. Let the scoundrel forsake his way, and the wicked man his thoughts; Let him turn to the Lord for mercy; to our God, who is generous in forgiving. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts. For just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down And do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, Giving seed to him who sows and bread to him who eats, So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it. Yes, in joy you shall depart, in peace you shall be brought back; Mountains and hills shall break out in song before you, and all the trees of the countryside shall clap their hands. In place of the thornbush, the cypress shall grow, instead of nettles, the myrtle. This shall be to the Lord’S renown, an everlasting imperishable sign (Is 55,1-13).

Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns; She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table. She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city: “Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding, I say, Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed! Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding” (Pr 9,1-6).

Now everything is from Christ Jesus. His universal mediation is not only with regard to the word, to the truth and to the knowledge of the true mystery of the Father; it is also with respect to every other true good for man, both for the soul, and for the spirit and body. All that man needs to be, live, work, think, act and relate, must necessarily descend from heaven for him through Lord Jesus. The whole thing is absolute. Every good that man needs must be drawn in Christ Jesus.

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Jesus is the relief of all fatigue and oppression of man. Fatigue and oppression are not only of the body, they are also of the soul and spirit. The relief of Christ is the fullness of true life, peace, joy, mercy, piety and great charity. With Jesus, man finds his all self. His life begins to flourish within him. However, this relief is not without the commitment of man. Jesus asks him for a perfect imitation of the virtues of humility and meekness. It is in this imitation that the relief makes itself true, complete, perfect, divine and nothing is missing to man anymore.

This means that the relief or the fullness of life is not without the observed, lived Gospel in the manner of Lord Jesus. Man finds the discovery of the true life in the Word of Jesus, that he is called to transform into his life. The Word is the true medicine of life. As man when he is sick returns into the use of his body through the medicine he assumed, so it is with every spiritual sickness of soul and spirit, and also physical for the body. Man returns to the fullness of life if he assumes the Gospel, by making it become his blood and his flesh, and life will return into his breast. It will be a life in the manner of Jesus Christ, lived wholly in obedience to the Father and offered to Him for the redemption of his brothers, so that they enter into eternal life.

Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints always give us this medicine.
