And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside
31 AUGUST (Mt 25,14-30)
In the Old Revelation judgment is performed on the observance of the commandments. He enters the tent of God who walks in his law. He is excluded from his holy place who instead advances in history through winding streets of lies, treachery, deception and non love.
The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. For He has founded it upon the seas And established it upon the rivers. Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood And has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive a blessing from the LORD And]righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face—even Jacob. Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory (Psalm 24 (23) 1-10).
O LORD, who may abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill? He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, And speaks truth in his heart. He does not slander with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor takes up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, But who honors those who fear the LORD; He swears to his own hurt and does not change; He does not put out his money at interest, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken (Psalm 15 (14) 1-5).
With the revelation of Jesus judgment is operated on the very nature of the tree, which is both spiritual and physical. Every tree is obliged to produce according to its riches both physical and spiritual. If it is rich for ten it must produce for ten; if it is rich for one, it has to produce for one. Fructifying according to its own talents, charismas, gifts of grace, truth, justice, charity, love and compassion, opens for us the gates of the Kingdom of God. The fruictification of the personal gifts is needed by the Lord to love according to truth.
“It will be as when a man who was going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one – to each according to his ability. Then he went away. Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five. Likewise, the one who received two made another two. But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master’s money. After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.’ (Then) the one who had received two talents also came forward and said, ‘Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.’ Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scatter; so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.’ His master said to him in reply, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter? Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with interest on my return? Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten. For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’
This is a new truth that has not yet become a Christian culture, his way of life, his truth, his conviction, his project of existence in history. Today, the law of minimalism rules. Doing only what is strictly necessary. Nothing more. Rather, not even the necessary is often done. With diabolical art, science, subterfuge, cunning you one is able to possess what was not fructified. This path applies to things of the earth, it will never be applied for the things of Heaven. With God you cannot cheat. He wants the fruits that our nature is obliged to produce. He needs them to love man.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints teach us this truth.
