The infant in my womb leaped for joy
21 DECEMBER (Lk 1,39-45)
Today There are many, among Christians, who worry or complain that, despite working hard in the vineyard of the Lord, nobody opens to the true mystery of Christ Jesus and not even intends to recognize the mystery of the Christian, the bearer in the world of the mystery of Lord Jesus. The problem of the knowledge of the truth of the Christian exists, it is real, it is not imaginary, fictitious and of pure fantasy. It must be solved according to the rules of God, not according to the rules of the world and of men.
God’s rules are very simple. Those of men are of a perennial invention of new things, with the aim of attracting people. But people might never be attracted to the mystery by things. Things attract things. The mystery attracts the mystery. God attracts God, the world attracts the world. Christ attracts Christ. The Spirit attracts the Spirit. The problem is not solved outside of a man, but in a man. The new thing that a man must always procure to bring with him is a new heart, sanctified by the Holy Spirit, constituted dwelling of the Blessed Trinity.
The heart inhabited by the Blessed Trinity is what attracts to Christ, to the Father of heaven and to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, that dwells in the heart, that through the Word of whoever brings him; is the one that enters the heart of the other, illuminates his mind, makes his thoughts wise in an instant; and ensures that he opens to the mystery of which one is a bearer. However, if the mystery is outside of us, never might the other be able to open to him. The Holy Spirit that creates his and our truth in the heart of who listens, is missing in us. Without the Holy Spirit there is no acceptance of our truth which we carry, because we do not carry any truth. It is from our Holy Spirit that the other enters the mystery becomes singer of God’s work. If we read the Gospel we notice that those who met with Christ, were conquered by the Spirit of Christ, and sang praising God for the great works that the Lord did through his Christ. The sequel of Christ is the result of the power of the Holy Spirit who dwelt in Him. That is how this truth is revealed by the Gospel.
After all the people had been baptized and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, heaven was opened and the holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased” (Lc 3,21-22). Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region. He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all. He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.” Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him. He said to them, “Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing” (Lk 4,14-21).
The Virgin Mary is filled with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Her heart is full of God. The God that overflows from her lies over Elizabeth and in an instant the whole mystery of Mary is revealed to her. Even the baby that is in her womb it is filled with him.
During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
Either the Holy Spirit and all of the Blessed Trinity overflow from our hearts, or never anybody will be attracted to the mystery through us. We are without mystery and no one might go to God through us. Our poverty of God is also the pastoral poverty.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels and Saints make us overflowing with God.
