Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me
5 OCTOBER (Lk 10,13-16)
It is truth: God and his people are one only thing. From the prophetic revelation we know that between Israel and its God there was a deep union, depicted in the sign of marriage, through which a man and a woman become one flesh. God and man for the faith become one thing, one breath, and one life.
The creation of this most high unity and union between God and his people, ensures that what is of the people is of God what is of God is of the people. This means that he who honors, respects, esteems, helps, and supports the people; esteems, helps and respects God. As also: he who despises the people of God, despises God who became one with the people. Never might any one think of despising the Lord, who is a consuming fire, and can always intervene in defense of his people.
She despises you, laughs you to scorn, the virgin daughter Zion; Behind you she wags her head, daughter Jerusalem. Whom have you insulted and blasphemed, against whom have you raised your voice And lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel! Through your servants you have insulted the Lord: You said, “With my many chariots I climbed the mountain heights, the recesses of Lebanon; I cut down its lofty cedars, its choice cypresses; I reached the remotest heights, its forest park. I dug wells and drank water in foreign lands; I dried up with the soles of my feet all the rivers of Egypt. Have you not heard? Long ago I prepared it, From days of old I planned it, now I have brought it to pass: That you should reduce fortified cities into heaps of ruins, While their inhabitants, shorn of power, are dismayed and ashamed, Becoming like the plants of the field, like the green growth, like the scorched grass on the housetops. I am aware whether you stand or sit; I know whether you come or go, and also your rage against me. Because of your rage against me and your fury which has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and make you return the way you came. This shall be a sign for you: this year you shall eat the after growth, next year, what grows of itself; But in the third year, sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit! The remaining survivors of the house of Judah shall again strike root below and bear fruit above. For out of Jerusalem shall come a remnant, and from Mount Zion, survivors. The zeal of the Lord of hosts shall do this. Therefore, thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not reach this city, nor shoot an arrow at it, nor come before it with a shield, nor cast up siege works against it. He shall return by the same way he came, without entering the city, says the Lord. I will shield and save this city for my own sake, and for the sake of my servant David””. (Is 37,22-35).
This truth on God with his people becomes truth of Jesus with his disciples. With Jesus, unit is even stronger, because between him and his disciples created a single body is really, spiritually, mystically, truly and not only spiritually; created. The contempt of the disciple is true contempt of Christ Jesus. Just as the listening to the disciple is true listening to Christ Jesus. However, this is true when Jesus and the disciple are one body of truth, grace, holiness, righteousness, Gospel, and word.
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, ‘Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.'” Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”
But when the disciple is detached from Christ through sin, disobedience, his scandalous, and not evangelical life; in this case, who despises the disciple, despises only him and nobody else. Who does not listen to him, does not listen to him and nobody else. He has separated himself from Jesus Christ and does not deserve any hearing, because he no longer is a word of eternal life like his Lord and Master. The disciple of Jesus must be especially mindful to be one life with his Lord, in holiness and in the greater grace, in justice and peace, in the truth of revelation, and in the guidance according to the Holy Spirit. He id obliged in this because of the mission he was invested with.
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels, and Saints make us be one with Jesus.
