Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him

24 AUGUST (Jn 1,45-51)

A man without deception is one that can enter into communion with God; live in his house, dwell with him eternally. A man without deception is pleasing to the Lord.

I will sing of loving-kindness and justice, To You, O LORD, I will sing praises. I will give heed to the blameless way. When will You come to me? I will walk within my house in the integrity of my heart. I will set no worthless thing before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not fasten its grip on me. A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will know no evil. Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, him I will destroy; No one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure. My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; He who walks in a blameless way is the one who will minister to me. He who practices deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who speaks falsehood shall not maintain his position before me. Every morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, So as to cut off from the city of the LORD all those who do iniquity. (Psalm 101 (100) 1-8).

However, the Psalm says that every man is a deception, every man is a liar. As he currently is, never might a man be pleasing to the Lord. Light and darkness cannot coexist. Holiness and sin, truth and falsity are mutually exclusive, oppose each other, and do not cohabit. Every man must make every effort to free himself from deception, aided by the grace of God.

I love the LORD, because He hears My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live. The cords of death encompassed me And the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I beseech You, save my life!” Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; Yes, our God is compassionate. The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me. Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. For You have rescued my soul from death, My eyes from tears, My feet from stumbling. I shall walk before the LORD In the land of the living. I believed when I said, “I am greatly afflicted.” I said in my alarm, “ All men are liars.” What shall I render to the LORD For all His benefits toward me? I shall lift up the cup of salvation And call upon the name of the LORD. I shall pay my vows to the LORD, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people. Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His godly ones. O LORD, surely I am Your servant, I am Your servant, the son of Your handmaid, You have loosed my bonds. To You I shall offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving, And call upon the name of the LORD. I shall pay my vows to the LORD, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people, In the courts of the LORD’S house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! (Psalm 116 (114-115) 1-19).

Nathaniel is a man without deception. He can live with Jesus. He can be one of his discipless. He can receive from Christ the Lord the light of revelation, because the light that is already in him will certainly welcome the light that comes from Christ the Lord. In fact, his is a true profession of light. He sees the light of Jesus and proclaims, cries it out, and he says it.

Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth.” But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him.” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.” And he said to him, “Amen, amen, http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0839/__PX9.HTM – $3QYI say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

However, the one seen by Nathaniel is not all the light of Jesus. He is the sole Mediator between God and every man. Today, man does not see, denies, and destroys this beautiful light. It means that deception reigns in his heart. A heart without philosophical, religious, cultural deception, vice, and sin will always see the light that comes from Christ the Lord. He sees, welcomes it, makes it his, and proclaims it so that everyone can welcome it. The deception of the heart is a true wall of bronze that no light might ever cross. For the light of Christ to enter it, he must first remove the deceit and then everything will become easy, and possible. Deception is a real plague of the heart, mind, and of the very will.
