From now on will all ages call me blessed

15 AUGUST (Lk 1,39-56)

God is worthy of all praise, blessing, glory, gratitude, and exaltation. His works are so great, powerful, and strong that never could we stop singing his glory. Every day the Lord does great things for us. Every day a hymn of glory and blessing must be raised. Man lives to sing the praise to his God and Lord.

Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will give feigned obedience to You. “ All the earth will worship You, And will sing praises to You; They will sing praises to Your name.” Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men. He turned the sea into dry land; They passed through the river on foot; There let us rejoice in Him! He rules by His might forever; His eyes keep watch on the nations; Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Bless our God, O peoples, And sound His praise abroad, Who keeps us in life And does not allow our feet to slip. For You have tried us, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; You laid an oppressive burden upon our loins. You made men ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water, Yet You brought us out into a place of abundance. I shall come into Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows, Which my lips uttered And my mouth spoke when I was in distress. I shall offer to You burnt offerings of fat beasts, With the smoke of rams; I shall make an offering of bulls with male goats. Selah. Come and hear, all who fear God, And I will tell of what He has done for my soul. I cried to Him with my mouth, And He was extolled with my tongue. If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear; But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer Nor His loving-kindness from me. (Psalm 66 (65) 1-20).

Today, the Virgin Mary becomes our lips, our hearts, our hymn of blessing and praise to our God and Lord. She looks at herself and sees herself a great work of God. God is the one who made her and God is the one who made great things for her She is a wondrous miracle that came out of the hands of her Lord. This is most pure truth of faith.

During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart. He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.” Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

The Virgin Mary sings the truth of God in history, because she is full of Holy Spirit. Even Elizabeth, filled with Holy Spirit, celebrates the glory of God manifested in Mary. Every day, we too are called to tell, celebrate, and exalt the truth of our God who has continued to perform prodigious works for our salvation. But we are not filled with Holy Spirit, we miss his eyes, his heart, his voice, and his truth. We do not see God. We do not know that we are also a wonderful work made by the Father. We close ourselves in our small, poor, miserable, and wretched humanity. Yet it is as if the Lord had “kneaded” us with himself, he created us in His image and likeness, and he filled us with grace and truth. Without the Holy Spirit we are blind, deaf and dumb. We do not see God, we do not talk of him, and we do not listen to him. Today, the Virgin Mary tells us that we must wake up from this sleep of death. She asks us to imitate her in her hymn of praise, in her Magnificat for her God and Father.

Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels, and Saints fill us to the brim with Holy Spirit.
