The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world

12 AUGUST (Jn 6,41-51)

The whole world must be taught by God. After Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob God no longer instructs directly; he acts through his mediators, human instruments through which he communicates his will. The Servant par excellence of the Father is Lord Jesus, his eternal Word, in his humanity. Today, God speaks to us through Jesus, the only one that knows the Father because he dwells, lives, is in the bosom of the Father.

And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth. John testified to him and cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.'” From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace, because while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The only Son, God, who is at the Father’s side, has revealed him. (Jn 1,14-18).

The Lord can serve himself of us to teach man and lead him to the fullness of his truth. For this to happen it is necessary that we are in God and God is in us. How can this happen? Dwelling us in the Word, living us the Gospel of salvation. When we are in the Word, God is in us and we in God. We can teach the world from the heart of God because God is in us and with us.

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us. This is how we know that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us of his Spirit. Moreover, we have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as savior of the world. Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God. We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him. (1Jn 4,7-16).

We can claim to know God and therefore affirm to speak according to his thoughts when our love towards our brothers is truly perfect, that is lived according to the Commandments, the Beatitudes, the current Word of Lord Jesus. Who is in the true love knows God. Who is not in true love has never known God, because God is love.

The Jews murmured about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,” and they said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother? Then how can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Stop murmuring http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0839/__PXE.HTM – $3T9among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. It is written in the prophets: ‘They shall all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”

The Jews murmur, they do not love. They criticize, they do not seek the truth; they do not covet, do not desire it. They do not walk from truth to truth. They are anchored, closed in a Word of God that is not the only one, not the last; it is simply a historical word of God that must be well understood, well interpreted, and well read. Due to this closure they do not love their brothers, as a consequence they do not know God, because they are not in God, in his charity, and in his love. There cannot form the others because they do not know God. If they knew him, they would love Jesus Christ in a different way.

Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels, and Saints teach us true love.
