This is my beloved Son. Listen to him

6 AUGUST (Mk 9,2-10)

Today, the Father proclaims fulfilled the Ancient Scriptures that announced the Lord’s Christ as his Son. The prophecies on the Anointed of the Lord must be understood neither in a moral, and nor in an allegorical, but in real sense. Not the people are Son of God, on the contrary it is a real, concrete, historical, visible, and unique person. But this person has two births: one in eternity from God and one from the Virgin Mary in time. This divine person made flesh has a name: Jesus of Nazareth.

Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!” He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying, “But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.” “I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. ‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession. ‘You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’” Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth. Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling. Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him! (Psalm 2,1-12).

The LORD says to my Lord: “ Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” The LORD will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.” Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power; In holy array, from the womb of the dawn, Your youth are to You as the dew. The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” The Lord is at Your right hand; He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath. He will judge among the nations, He will fill them with corpses, He will shatter the chief men over a broad country. He will drink from the brook by the wayside; Therefore He will lift up His head. (Psalm 110 (109), 1-7).

Jesus fulfills the Scriptures in his person, in his words, in his works, with all his life. This is attested by Moses and Elijah, the Law and the Prophets, that are manifested to Peter, James and John, on the mountain, to confirm the truth of Christ the Lord against any other false, less true, less reliable, less just, and less real interpretation. The heavenly Father that declares the historical and eternal truth of Jesus and invites the three disciples to listen to what Jesus is saying to them, because his word is the only true one; also proclaims it. All the others are not true, they are false. They do not tell the truth on his messianism. They lie. They have a human, and not divine vision of Jesus.

After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no fuller on earth could bleach them. Then Elijah appeared to them along with Moses, and they were conversing with Jesus. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here! Let us make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” He hardly knew what to say, they were so terrified. Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them; then from the cloud came a voice, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone but Jesus alone with them. As they were coming down from the mountain, he charged them not to relate what they had seen to anyone, except when the Son of Man had risen from the dead. So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what rising from the dead meant.

Even today, the vision that is possessed of Jesus is much more human than divine, much more of the earth than of heaven, much more of our heart than of the heart of the heavenly Father. The truth of Christ is too deficient in the hearts and minds of many of his disciples. Every falsehood on the mystery of Jesus becomes falsehood on the mystery of man. Every gap in the truth of Jesus turns into an anthropological gap. Today, we no longer know who man is because we are forgetting who Jesus the Lord is. You cannot think of giving glory to man by snatching it to Christ Jesus. It urges to give Jesus the glory of his truth. It is necessary to announce his mystery without any shadow of heresy and falsehood.

Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redemption, Angels, and Saints give us the truth of Jesus Christ.
