I SHALL PLACE MY SPIRIT UPON HIM

Jesus, the Eternal Only Son of God, his Word, becomes flesh so that he shows us all the splendour of the light of the Father from the flesh. Whoever has to pour all the light of the Father into the flesh of Christ the Lord is the Holy Spirit. This is why the Messiah must be wholly full, overflowing with Him. Isaiah prophesies that the Spirit of God will rest upon Him, on the Sprout emerging from the root of Jesse. No part of his humanity will remain without it. It will be grasped entirely and filled with the powerful light of God.

But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom. The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, A spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord, and his delight shall be the fear of the Lord. Not by appearance shall he judge, nor by hearsay shall he decide, But he shall judge the poor with justice, and decide aright for the land’s afflicted. He shall strike the ruthless with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked. Justice shall be the band around his waist, and faithfulness a belt upon his hips (Is 11,1-5).

It is the Spirit of the Lord with whom Christ Jesus was consecrated, that moment by moment moves him and drives him according to the will of the Father, telling him what to do and how to do it. The mission of Jesus has only one aim: bringing man back to his true humanity. Putting his Father back in every man’s heart as his only Lord. Recomposing the image and the likeness shattered by sin. Giving man his truth of God and there is never the truth on man until he is governed by sin and lives as a slave to it. Deliverance from sin is the primary end of the mission of Christ Jesus.

The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the broken hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners, To announce a year of favour from the Lord (Is 61,1-3).

Jesus always acts from the Holy Spirit according to the purest will of the Father. This is the light that He has come to show on our earth. In every moment, He attests that we can live as true children of God, walking in his light, from light to light. In the light of the Father Jesus sees every man in need of everything. He sees him wounded, with open and bleeding sores. He stops and cares for him with all the love of his heart.

But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against him to put him to death. When Jesus realized this, he withdrew from that place. Many (people) followed him, and he cured them all, but he warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfil what had been spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I shall place my spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles. He will not contend or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, a smouldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory. And in his name the Gentiles will hope.”

To carry out the mission of salvation from the heart of the Father and not from his heart, Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit from the first moment of his messianic consecration.

I am baptizing you with water, for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is mightier than I. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in his hand. He will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. John tried to prevent him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?” Jesus said to him in reply, “Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfil all righteousness.” Then he allowed him. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened (for him), and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove (and) coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Mt 3,11-17).

Mother of Jesus, Angels and Saints, make sure that everything is done in us in the light of the Spirit.
